Bulgaria Visit

3rd - 7th November 2014

 

Monday 3rd November

• The partner teams arrived.

 

Tuesday 4th November

 

• Opening ceremony

       Students from the school welcomed the guests.

• The first coordinators' meeting was held; the students visited a weaving workshop.

In the afternoon the teachers tasted some delicious wine, produced by a local vine yards owner; the students had a free afternoon with the host families.

 

Wednesday 5th November 

 

• An excursion to Plovdiv was organised. This is a cross-cultural city, which was voted to be  an European Capital of Culture in 2019.

• On the way to Plovdiv the Bachkovo Monastery was seen. It is the second biggest one in Bulgaria and a typical representative of the official religion - Eastern Orthodox Church.

 

Thursday 6th November

 

• ​The second coordinators' meeting was held; the students were singing the chorus of the new project song. A recording was made.

• The mayor of the town received the foreign guests in the Town Hall. He presented all the important industrial, educational and cultural buildings and events in the town as well as in the munacipility. 

• In the afternoon all were dancing traditional Bulgarian dances called 'horo'. It was great fun!

• In the evening there was a farewell party with the guests, the host families and the school staff. Various kinds of food and drinks were shown in 'From My Grandma's Garden and Kitchen'. Everybody could taste and even take a piece to their country.

• The teams departed.
